Beauty – The Most Fundamental Substance

Beauty is the aesthetic objectification of things that make these things pleasurable to see. Such things as sunsets, gardens, humans, beautiful landscapes and artistic works of art. Beauty, along with aesthetic appreciation, is the foremost theme of aesthetic science, another of the numerous branches of humanities science.

To quote the thinker Immanuel Kant, “Aesthetic taste and aesthetic judgment are, as we have seen, dependent on the eye and its sensibility. We judge beauty by the pleasure it gives us; and this enjoyment consists in being pleased with the appearance rather than with the gratification of desire.” Beauty has long been associated with virtue, just as intelligence and goodness are often associated with humanity, and religion with humanity. For centuries, artists have sought to express the idea of beauty in their art, and to interpret its effects on mankind.

The perfection of a flawless skin or hair can be a source of shame to someone else. A beautiful face can be a source of delight for someone else. One thing we can all agree on is that beauty is a very important thing to most of us. A beautiful smile is a joy to behold, a smile that says “I am so happy!” So, everyone is looking for a way to improve their beauty and the products, treatments and methods used to achieve that goal are endless.
