The Importance of Good Health Care
Health is an ambiguous state of mind in which infirmity and disease are absent. Several definitions have been applied over the years for various purposes. For most people, health means being happy and contented with one’s life and condition. For others, it implies being healthy at all times and having sufficient resources to face the world’s challenges. For yet another set of people, it signifies the absence of serious illnesses such as cancer or heart disease while still leaving the mind and body in good condition.
To assess one’s health status, it is important to consider both internal resources and external sources. Internal resources refer to the capacity of the body and mind to resist the external forces that could harm the person and to adapt. External sources include stressors and environmental risks to health such as exposure to toxins, noise, chemicals, and violence. Based on these factors, a person’s overall health status can be determined.
The state of overall health often coincides with that of the physical condition. People who are physically fit are usually perceived as cheerful, energetic, and mentally healthy. On the other hand, those who are not fit feel emotionally stable but are unable to cope with the demands of a demanding physical environment. To improve health and save costs related to health care, incorporating physical fitness routines and exercises into the daily life of an individual should be a priority.
