The Concept of Beauty
The Concept of Beauty
The question of beauty is a complex one. Many people, especially the young, may have an erroneous notion of what beauty is, while others might be able to recognize it in something ordinary. It is the male spirit’s gateway into the chaos of the world, and the impurity of the female body drags the male spirit with it. The devaluation of nature, therefore, must be dealt with. To understand this, we must consider the role of the female body and the concept of beauty.
The study of beauty has two branches. Psychological aesthetics, which uses experimental methods to measure aesthetic experience, seeks to establish the laws of appreciation based on a consensus of subject responses, and omnium-gatherum aesthetics, which applies scientific principles to the study of beauty and object perception. While Fechner employed the term “beauty” to describe the objectivity of art and the quality of nature, later psychologists found the term unsatisfactory due to its formative, objectivist connotations.
While there are many definitions of beauty, some agree that it is an expression of self-expression. The ELLE magazine is a particularly striking example of an art magazine. The design uses futuristic themes, metallic type, lurid neon green lines, and image-led sections to evoke a sense of femininity. This design is very different from the typical beauty magazines that utilize clean layouts and serif capitals. Moreover, the content is aimed at a young audience, so that women who read the publication can find what they are looking for.
