The Importance of Health
Health is defined as the condition of being alive, well, and able to carry out daily activities. It is also a resource for a person’s social, personal, and physical capacities. As a result, it encompasses a wide range of issues, including physical fitness, mental and emotional capacity, and ability to cope with stress and acquire skills. The importance of health cannot be overstated, and its positive impact on people’s lives cannot be underestimated.
According to the World Health Organization, health is the condition of total physical, mental, and social well-being. Promoting health means increasing positive behaviors and reducing harmful ones. Inequalities can occur across a population, between social groups within a population, and even within social groups. Moreover, some factors may be primarily the responsibility of individuals, while others may be structural. Therefore, it is imperative to consider the determinants of health and the policies governing them.
In a report published by the World Health Organisation, health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. It includes activities that enhance health and reduce harmful ones. However, health can be influenced by social and environmental factors, as well as personal choices. In other words, promoting health is about increasing one’s capacity to direct and control their own wellbeing. The WHO considers health to be a lifelong journey.
